ME: June 2008
VO: And what have you been doing since then?
ME: I did a course in C++ and also worked at Siemens for about 5 months.
VO: Why did you leave?
ME: Well, I didn't actually leave. They fired all the freshers hired last year due to recession. (we both gave big smiles... LOL...)
VO: Do you have a bank loan?
ME: I have applied for it. It will be sanctioned next week.
[looks at my GRE scores, smiles at 800 in quants. Looks at TOEFL (105) ]
VO: May I have your mark sheets and degree certificate?
ME: Sure (handed them over)
VO: How many backlogs?
ME: None. Passed with First Class.

VO:(looked into the forms,marksheets for abt 20 sec)so why stony brook?
Me: said something abt the resarch going on there

Me:never had a backlog
VO:What is ur ug percentage?

VO: what are the other admits u got?
Me: i got admits in iit,univ of missouri-columbia and sunny buffalo
VO:good..so why didnt u choose buffalo?
Me:vlsi prog comes under the cs dept in ub..i want to continue in my own dept,which is ece..and in ub they are concentrating on cad whereas in sbu research is going on in fpga,which is my area of interest..(the last sentence was completely made up on the spot..she seemed convinced though)
Vo:so how are u going to fund ur studies?
me:said about my parent's job and income and savings..
vo:congragulations sir..ur visa is approved..it will reach u in a week

Me:Infrastructure is good.....amazing research facilities.....grp

VO:What wud b ur research like????(till this time hardly looking at me and continously typing on the screeen)
Me:It wud be on microstructure and materials property relationship like tension,compression,shear etc.......(not looking at me so continued) and also about wear......
VO:What materials u wud b working on????(bang on target now which i ws just praying not to come and looking straight in my eyes)
Me: Steel(trying to turn away pink slip chance by generalising the material)
VO:Will u b working on some sensitive equipments????
me: What kind of sensitive equipments sir?
VO:Yes the one u will use in ur research
Me: that wud b just polishing machines and microscopes(didnt wantd to name TEMs or SEMs)
VO: I m not convinced
