VO: So tell me what was your major in undergrad?
Me: Electronics Engineering
VO: When did you finish your undergrad?
ME: I have given my Sem 8 exams and I am expecting my results by July.
VO: (Screening my I-20) (My major is written as Engineering,other on the I-20)Which course
ME: MS in Telecommunications and Networking
VO:But on the I-20 it is written as Engineering,others
ME:No Madam the course is Telecommunications and Networking. Even on the acceptance letter from the university it is Telecommunications and Networking.
VO:we dont care about the acceptance letter. We just care about what is written on the i-20.
I was really tensed after she said that. then again she continued
VO: Why FIU
ME: Good course content,research blah blah. It is also one of the few US universities to offer a a course in Telecommunications which combines both the engineering track and the management track.
VO: No I can tell u many univs in the US wich Offer Telecommunications
ME:True Madam but this is a multi-disciplinary course that combines Engineering,Computer science and Business Management studies.

Me:good morning .
Vo:good morning. thats the only time she smiled.
(she cut to the chase.)
VO: which course are you going to
Me:Electrical Engineering in Power Systems.
VO:Master's?
Me: yes. i was smiling. she was'nt.
VO:how much is your GRE score?
Me:1470. (with a dashingly confident grin, but she was looking at the comp. felt so stupid)
VO: & TOEFL? there was a lot noise outside coz other officers were announcing the numbers n stuff, so had to ask her again.
Me:114. again smiling. but that damn woman was'nt even looking at me. but she seemed impressed. by this time, she started scribbling something on the visa ds forms & had taken out my I-20. I sorta knew, i'm almost there.
VO:Was this you first choice univ? Which other univ did u apply to? how many admits..
Me: said that same old thing we all know by nw & can say it in our sleep.
VO: what are ur future plans?
Me: told. the same old same old. come bak to india after Masters etc etc.
VO:you completed ur UG just last mnth rite? wats ur % age. by this time, i had stopped smiling outta embarassment & i was jus bored.
Me: told
VO:who's sponsoring you? wat do they do? wats their joint annual income?
Me: parents.
VO: Thank you, I'm issuing your VISA.
Me: (finally) thank you madam. You made my day. & she just shot bak a blank look. that cold cold woman.
